Adoption Process
ReDux believes in finding the right person and home for each horse, and we take the time to be sure the horse will be a valuable family member. It is incredibly rewarding to watch our adoptable horses learn to trust humans and enjoy scratches. Our goal is to find owners who will listen to their horse and pay attention to what the horse is trying to communicate, as well as providing proper care.
Time to Decompress
Rescue can be stressful for horses, so we allow each horse to settle in, meet the herd and spend time with our volunteers first. All of the rescues are showered with care and affection while they are given the time to heal and blossom.
Training Assessment
and/or Specialty Care
ReDux is fortunate to have the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital nearby for those rescues who need specialized veterinary care. Once any health issues are sorted out, we start assessing what they know.

Intake Assessment
Often we have limited or no background information on new rescues. A veterinary exam with lameness evaluation is the first step. Then comes figuring out what they know, what they like and dislike, and what makes them happy.
Up for Adoption
Once healthy and assessed, horses are placed up for adoption to qualified homes. Adoption fees help cover the cost of hay, farrier, vet, training and rescuing other horses. We will adopt out to owners/caretakers who are the best possible fit based on our assessment.
Meet and Greet
Once we receive and review your application, you will be contacted to set up an appointment to meet the horse. Please note that horses can only be seen by appointment; we cannot accommodate drop-ins or last-minute appointments.
What are the requirements for horse adoption?
You must agree that under no circumstances will the adopted horse be used for breeding, racing, be sold or transferred for slaughter, or be taken to a livestock auction. You must also agree to use safe, humane, and ethical methods of handling and training. We do not adopt horses to homes without other horses, and you must have a minimum of 2 acres per horse.
What if my adoption does not work out?
Please reach out so that we can help. ReDux will always welcome back any of our adopted horses.
The adoption fee is considered a donation and is not refundable.
